“Ol Blue” is a memory frozen in time—of light blue paint glinting in the sun, chrome polished by small hands, and the familiar thunder of a project car coming to life.
The 1958 Buick Roadmaster Riviera rolls into focus, its classic curves traced by hand in a single layer of cut paper. The backdrop is moody, blending soft streaks of blue with the warm glow of an evening drive, evoking quiet moments when daydreams and reality intertwined. The precision of the cut lines contrasts with the loose, painterly background, much like how the clean lines of memory are often softened by the passage of time.
This piece isn’t just about cars—it’s about the bond between a father and son. About lessons learned over grease-stained summers and the comfort of knowing that something as simple as working on an old car could forge lasting memories. “Ol Blue” is a reminder of those moments, when life felt slow enough to savor.

I’ve been a car guy for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t just the Hot Wheels tracks snaking through the house or the TV shows that glorified muscle cars—it was something more personal. My dad always had a project car or two parked in the backyard, and each summer, he let me help. Scrubbing parts, squeezing into tight spaces, and polishing what felt like miles of chrome. Most of those cars had one thing in common: they were blue.
This piece is a tribute to my dad and the memories we built together under the hood. The smell of engine grease, the warmth of the sun on chrome, and the feeling of knowing I was part of something bigger. It’s a piece of nostalgia wrapped in gratitude.
