Angel X

Angel X

18"x24" Hand-Cut Paper Painting

On Display at 311 Gallery

Hand-cut paper portrait of an angel. This is one in a series of “Love Angels”. Each angel is unique. They look like us, like people you would meet on the street … with wings of course. Each has a message of love. This one has scripture from 1 John.

Made from three parts: the top is a single piece cut to form the figure’s highlights, painted with spray paint and acrylics. The second layer is a darker, thicker hand-cut paper that forms the dark background of the figure. This layer is also spray painted. The entire figure is floated 1/4” to cast a rich shadow over the background highlighting the hand-cutting.

The background is made from 3/4” oak with charcoal text finished with polyurethane.

Mixed media
Materials:
Acid-free mix media paper, Aerosol paint, Acrylic paint, Charcoal, Oak, Polyurethane
Framing:

Message

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

1 John 4:20
